I've been seeing clips of the PBS documentary that's coming out on Sept. 23rd by Ken Burns called "The War".  It's seems to be covering all of WWII.  It will be several episodes long with lots of actual footage.  You can go to PBS.org to check it out.  It looks very good.

PBS has also done a History Detectives episode about the Indianapolis.  They mentioned a man lost during the sinking named Arthur Mitchneau but I can't find his name on the crews list as being lost that night or a survivor.   ?????

Cheryl, this documentary does look very good.  I'm excited to see it.  There was a special preview screening last Thursday in downtown Seattle that I heard was wonderful.  I wasn't able to attend.

I watched all of the episodes of The War, and thought it was wonderfully done. Tonight, (Part 7), they had a small piece on the USS Indianapolis, with Mr. Maurice Bell.

I agree, it was wonderfully done. So much I didn't know about. I did see the part on the USS Indianapols. I was very glad they included it. I truly earned a part in history.

I am amazed by the footage and photographs that Ken Burns has managed to find for this documentary.  I'm just now watching the series and it is even better than I had hoped.
