Robert Wallace Marshall Seaman Second Class
Permalink Closed

Robert Wallace Marshall, Seaman Second Class went down with the  U S S Indianapolis in 1945. He was my second cousin and first cousin to my mother. I wondered if any surviors new him he was 21 yrs old. My name is Ray W. Knispel, I also served in the Navy as a Corpsman who served in Vietnam with the 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. Our family recently had a grave marker placed in the family plot in Brooklyn Cemetery which is located in Cleveland ohio and next to his parents and his brother who fought in WWII from North Africa to Germany. His marker includes his rank and ship; the U S S Indianapolis. I have a copy of a letter from Captain McVay to my Uncle and Aunt regarding his loss. Would like to hear from a savior who may have know him. He was atheletic as was his brother and believed to have been below decks as the Indy went down. God bless them all and all survivors for their service to country is GREAT! Ray Knispel, HM2 Vietnam Veteran
