James C. Nichols

Our beloved Uncle, James C. Nichols, passed away this morning.  Besides being an Indy survivor, he was an awesome, wonderful and Godly man who will be dearly missed.  Surely he is singing with the angels now.

Shelley,
So sorry to hear about your uncle. The guys are truly of the greatest generation, and sadly we are losing them at such a rapid rate these days.

Please see your whiteboard posting on this site about contact information for family members of the final sailing crew.

Take care, and find comfort in your fond memories of your uncle.

ALSO SORRY ABOUT YOUR UNCLE'S PASSING. i MET RICHARD PAROUBEK & HIS DAUGHTER ELLEN AT THE CINCINNATI VA LAST YEAR. I HAD READ IN HARMS WAY & ABANDON SHIP & JUST GOT LEFT FOR DEAD TODAY. I SEE THEM WHENEVER THEY COME TO THE VA. THEY ARE ALL TRUE HEROES. GOD BLESS THEM ALL FROM A FORMER MACHINIST MATE 2ND CLASS.

Thanks, Moby.  You're right.  They're all heroes.  Uncle Jay floated on a bouie (sp?) net for three days.  Theirs is an amazing story.  Most people only equate the Indy with that scene in "Jaws", but there is so much more to it....  Thanks for caring about these guys and their families!

Dear Nichols Family,

My father is Survivor George E. Laws.  We were very sad to hear about the passing of James Nichols.  My father knew your uncle they had meet several times through the years.  Our prayers are with all of you.

Carol,

Hello! Thanks so much for your note.  I think my Aunt Mary told me about your father.  I'm glad they remained friends over the years!  He was very loyal to his buddies.

Take care and God bless,

Hi Carol,
If you are interested, could you please send me your contact information? I am organizing and updating a contact list of family members of the final sailing crew for the Second Watch Organization and would love to add you to it to keep you involved.
THANKS - and any others reading this that would like to be included are welcome to send information as well.
