Middle School Student looking for more information
Permalink Closed

I'm a middle school student in NY and am reading the book Left for Dead.  I was hoping, maybe, to better understand what those men went through, that a vet himself, or a vet's family would be willing to answer a few questions of mine.  I thought I would first try this instead of other sources beause I wanted the words straight from some one who was there, not a reporter.  I hope my questions aren't rude or offensive, that isn't what I meant at all.  Thank You.
1)Where were you when the torpedoes hit?
2)What first went through your head at that moment?
3)Where you able to help anyone?
4)Do you ever feel guilty even though you were trying to survive yourself?
5)Once in the water did you find a group?  If so how many were there and what were your rations?
6)What was it like waiting for so long watching the people around you die? (Again I don't mean to be rude I just want to be able to relate a little more...if thats possible)
7)Were you injured?
8)What did you think of the U.S. bringing Hashimoto as a witness to McVay's court-martial?
9)Did you think McVay should've been court-martialed?
10)What kept you going and motivated you to live?
11)What was the ship like before and after the torpedoes hit?
12)Do you ever regret having been there?
And overall what the whole experience was like.
I hope I didn't upset anyone reading this by bringing up old memories.  The men aboard the USS Indianapolis are heros and I believe that Hunter Scott is as well.  Also, if there is a survivor in New York, Massachuestes, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, Rhode Island, or near St.Louis, Missouri or Kansas City and is willing to meet with me, that would be an extreme honor.  I have family/friends in all those places and am planning to see most of them this summer at the latest.  If you can please tell me so we an arrange a time to meet. Thank you for your time and your effort for our country.
PS-sorry if there's spelling mistakes English isn't my subject.
