Indy survivor, Bob Gause, went home to be with the Lord in 2008, but I have preserved his astounding story in an ebook titled: UNSINKABLE. The story of yet another Indy WWII hero from the Greatest Generation!
Upon banishing himself from his group after a wave forces him to swallow a mouthful of salt water, Bob tells how he miraculously stood and rested in the middle of the ocean where the water was two-and-a half miles deep. Then, after the crew is spotted, Gwinn's plane drops a raft with medical supplies. Due to the limited amount of medication, Bob selflessly declines a much needed shot of morphine for pain relief only to witness in the ensuing moments to follow the death of each crewmember who received the injection. It is surmised the normal dosage was simply too much for their dehydrated systems to handle. UNSINKABLE contains these in full description along with many stories never published before, bringing a sense of newness to a tragedy and the heroes we must never forget.
