I travel with several survivors of the USS Indianapolis and some of the rescue crewmen giving multimedia presentations about the tragedy and triumph of the ship. We do not charge to do these programs, it is strictly volunteer work. If you are interested in having us come to your area, please contact me so that I can send you a flyer with more information.
These presentations are great for schools, community groups, military gatherings, and basically anyone who cares enough to hear about (and from) these true heroes in person.
Please let me know if you would like a flyer emailed to you.
Sincerely, Kim Nielsen ww2kim@gmail.com

I wholeheartedly endorse Kim's presentation as both professional and educational. I have witnessed & enjoyed two of them (at the 2005 Indy Reunion, and at Blue Ridge Community College in the Shenandoah Valley of VA in April 2007), and she does a superb job presenting the historical account as well as the human side of the story. Her multi-media presentation material is unique, educational & entertaining. Any person who can drum up local interest in the USS Indianapolis CA-35 story, gather an audience and provide a suitable facility should consider calling on Kim to do her thing. Done with class and dignity. You will be touched!
Also, if any educators are interested in more information about the mobile/traveling exhibit associated with the USS Indianapolis Museum in Indianapolis, please check out their website at http://www.ussindianapolis.us/

Kim, I am very interested in having your group visit our school for a presentation. Please send me any information you have. I teach the Gifted program at a private school in Powder Springs, Georgia (outside of Atlanta), and use the book Left for Dead by Hunter Scott for this unit of study. I am also interested in contacting Mr. Scott if at all possible. If you have any information that would help me with that, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much! Hope to hear from you soon! Hi Kim, my name is Tom Balunis. I am a Councilman in Wanaque, NJ. in 2005, I helped obtain the Navy & Marine Corps Medal for a Navy vetern in our town named William Van Wilpe. Bill served on the USS Bassett and saved many men during the rescue of the Indy survivors. I thought I recognized Mr. Wren in one of your photos. He was a big help with my efforts in obtaining the medal. I have also done some work for the survivors organization through Paul Murphy. I raised some money for them by selling their t-shirts. Anyway, I am interested in the presentations you are doing and would love to learn more about it. I am also a Council Liaison to the local schools and would like to arrange for a presentation in our schools. Maybe even an event open to the community presented in the high school auditorioum. I'll bring Bill to show off his medal. Wanaque is located in northern NJ, about 45 minutes outside NYC. Thanks, Tom Balunis

Ms. Kim, I'm an 8th grader at Calkins Road Middle School in New York which is about an hour from Buffalo. I've been interested in the Indy since I read Left for Dead by Pete Nelson in English for the hero's unit. I'm very interested in seeing you presentation and hearing the story of the Indy from the men who were really there. I don't think the book really describes what these men went through properally. But I'm not sure if you come to schools in New York. If you do I'm sure my school would be very honored to have you as our guests. Can you please send me the flyer for more information? You can contact me at egrobben@gmail.com and even if you aren't able to come to my school I would love to hear from some of the men you work with. Thank you for what you do for those men and please thank them for what they have done for our country. -Emily

Would you be willing to do churches too? I live in Georgia, and I'll have to talk to my church, but I wanted to verify this question first.

I just got home from speaking at the 2010 USS Indianapolis reunion. What a phenomenal event! Thanks to all who made it happen and to all who attended. Thanks to my sweet survivors who participated in the Q&A session. That was very emotional!
These men are my heart.

Hello,
I am Petty Officer Third class Davis from Naval Base Guam and I just think that what you are doing is wonderful and I would love to experience it. I wish you could come to Guam and do this presentation for the military members stationed here but I understand how challenging that would be. I would just like to say that those of us here in Naval Base Guam would like to thank you for what you do.

Hi my name is Collin and i'm a 7th Grader who just participated this past Friday, January 12, 2018 in my school's Social Studies Fair. I proudly did my projected on the U.S.S. Indianapolis and i'm excited to say I was elected to move on to Regionals. I've been told by several of my classmates as well as teachers and my Principal that the story I shared about the U.S.S. Indianapolis was very interesting. Later they were asking me so many questions. I would love to interview someone with a connection to the U.S.S. Indianapolis to help me with my presentation to be better prepared so when I compete at Regionals at the end of this month. Would you be able to put me in contact with possibly a survivor?
I would also like to receive a flyer so that I may present it to my school to see if they would be interested in arranging for you to come give a presentation. Here is my mother's contact number 504-352-4982.
Thank You
Collin
