Okay, for reasons I don't understand, even though the caption says it's USS Indianapolis, it's actually USS Portland. To view the photo of Indy, visit the USS Savannah page
The caption says Savannah, but the ship is actually Indianapolis. Still looking for information about the photo and/or Indianapolis's location on September 27, 1939.
