I am watching this program right now. My father told me about the Indianapolis...

He and his brothers enlisted when they were very young...they barely survived
World War II.

My father went to "Anzio".............. and he was one from a small group of survivors from there...

World War II, was a terrible and tragic event. Families, were torn apart from all directions, bright and promising young men, women and even animals went off to this world event and untold thousands never came home.

The World War II story is a tragic and heartwrenching chain of events...all the way around.

I just watched the show on Discovery and I was so saddened. It was a very touching and moving story. I am so sorry about all the lost life and glad for the suvivors and their loved ones.

i watched it last night and i recorded it and i can honestly say that it is one of the most depressing shows i have ever seen

the first show was the Pianist and it was about the Holocaust

but Ocean of Fear is second

i was nearly in tears when Giles Macoy was talking about the dogging the lower levels

i could never live through that ordeal
they are the bravest and strongest men i have ever heard of

i was so depressed about hearing how many men had died
i could never imagine the terror of knowing that there were dozens of sharks feet bellow or away from me

to the surviving crew of the U.S.S. Indianapolis you are the bravest men i have ever heard of

I just watched this special 2 days ago. I knew about the Indianapolis but until now never realized the magnitude of what those brave sailors went through. I cried throughout the special, I suppose for many reasons. I can't imagine the abandonment and the fear those young men felt. And their superiors actions through all of this? How does that happen? How do you find forgiveness for the atrociousness of all that happened? At the end of this special, the actual footage of some of the rescue was shown. Two brave young sailors managed to smile while being rescued. They are better people than I!  God Bless each one that lost their lives, God Bless any remaining survivors and God Bless the family members of each and everyone of these wonderful, brave men.

To all of you survivors out there, God Bless you. You were
brave and your story will never be forgotten. I will never
forget the impact your story had on me when I watched
the documentary on Shark week. You are true American
heroes. Thank you for being so brave, strong and determined
to live. It was very difficult to watch and imagine that you
had to live through it especially watching your fellow mates
die. Please know that there are lots of people in America
who are still thankful to veterans like you and we respect
you.
