Growing up as a Navy Brat, my dad would tell this story to my sibblings and I.  I always thought he was exaggerating and trying to teach us that "healthy respect" of the sea since we were raised around the ocean. I don't think I ever realized how tramatic that must have been.  After the program aired on the Discovery Channel, I found the website and started reading more about the disaster. I'm amazed that so many men survived 5 days on the open sea, and I'm saddened that so many perished.
