The following article is an interview that my grandfather first gave to his local newspaper, the Clifton Advocate in 1960, just after the first survivor reunion.
I came across this particular site, by accident. I have found several books on the sinking of the Indianapolis, and have purchased at least 2, which have been very interesting. I have been looking for additional information on Russell "Rusty" Brandt.....I am related to Rusty through marriage to his wife Rita.....so, you and I are also cousins. Your Dad, Tom, and I went to high school together, though I think I am about 3 years older than he is. We were in band together, and played coronet. We sat next to each other. I have been wanting to get in touch with him, but had no idea where he had moved. I would have sent you just an e-mail, but did not know how to do it from this site. Anyway, I hope we can correspond. I was so happy that you posted the interview that your grandfather gave to the Clifton paper. I had not been able to find that. Myrna (Bernier) Schosser
