My 11 year old granddaughter has recently developed an interest in history. I found out that she knew about the USS Indianapolis so I took her to the cemetery in Princeton Illinois where there is a marker for Ralph Henderson S1 from the ship. I know he is listed on the final crew list. I'd like to find out if anyone has anymore information. Thanks

Your daughter may be very interested in the book from the We The People Series titled "The Sinking of the USS Indianapolis" by Marc Tyler Nobleman. It is a good overview, with about 50 pages, and is written for the younger reader with a 3rd-6th grade reading level. It's a great way for the younger kids that are interested in the story to get a nice introduction. It also has some neat pictures.
I'm so glad to hear that your daughter is so interested in the story. It is only through the younger generation that the memory of this ship and its great men will live on!
