My name is Jeffrey Hill. I am an enlisted sailor in a commissioning program at the University of Minnesota NROTC Program. This semester, we are trying to find guest speakers who can speak to the midshipmen battalion about various leadership principles and situations. I was wondering if there are any survivors in the Minnesota/Wisconsin area who would be willing to speak to our future naval officers about the sinking of the Indy and the leadership that they witnessed in such a time of crisis. I first heard the story of the Indy second hand from our current MCPON, Joe Campa. He told us about the courage and self sacrifice that was displayed by those who sealed their own fate by using the little energy they had by going from group to group among the shipwrecked men and telling them to hold on to hope.
If there are any survivors who would be willing to do this, I will do whatever I can to help make it happen. Thank you.
Very respectfully, Jeffrey T. Hill Officer Candidate USN jhill365@gmail.com
