My great uncle, John Nelson Dimond died on the USS Indianapolis and my grandfather, Arlie Dimond, was a great supporter of the reunion efforts until he passed away a few years ago. 

My daughter now has a project in school in which she is researching the last voyage of the USS Indianapolis.  I shared that she had a great great uncle that perished that terrible night.  She wants to know everything that she can about the ship, along with any information that someone can share about her great, great uncle John.

My heart goes out to all of the families that keep the memories alive for the brave crew of this ship.
