I was doing some research on McVay, and I was wondering if there are any pictures of himself as a young man, perhaps just getting into the Navy? I only find the ones of him as an older man and looking no younger than his 30s-40s. Also, what happened to the toy soldier that he was holding when he committed suicide?

Just watched a documentory on the USS Indianapolis.I can only say that my heart feels for those that lost their lives and for those that survived that horrible ordeal at sea.As a supporter of all our warriors I must say thank you to all that served on the USS Indianapolis that day. That barrage of torpedos could not have been avoided. It was the USS Indianapolises time. The Captain was not at fault. The mission was secret. So secret that not even the Navy could tell of its existance on this mission. So secret that those men suffered because of it.The documentory never said it was a rescue plane that found them.Only that it was a plane that saw something unusual in the water. The plane came for a closer look.God said it was time to get those men out of the water.God bless all the men that were on the USS Indianapolis that day...Bayhawk
