Years ago I found this site and made a request, but hadn't heard back from anyone, so I thought I'd try again.
My dad, Raymond Jurkiewicz (d. 1985), was a survivor of the Indy. Sadly, he never really talked about his ordeal so all I know is what I've seen in books or in movies. If anyone knows of him, could you please share any memories or stories from the boat, the ordeal, or any encounter you had with him? He was a wonderful man and I know this event affected him deeply. I just want to understand more what he was like at that time. I believe he was only 16 or 17 when he was on the ship - he lied about his age to enlist.
Any info would be great. Thanks so much and God Bless all the men of the USS Indy!!!

Leslie, I will be hosting four Survivors in VA on Sept 12-14, 2010...and if you will email me some info on your Dad, and pose any questions you might have for them, I will show them the email and see if they knew your dad. If you knew where he was from, what his rate/rank was, and what division he served in on the ship, that would certainly help pinpoint who might have known him. My email is jimbelcherpfi@verizon.net and my name is Jim. Good luck, hoping you hear something about your Dad!
