Hi,
My name is Matt Cooley. I am a farmer in Dixon, California. I have a pumpkin patch and own the world's largest corn maze. Inside the corn maze there are trailers to act as a rest stop during the long walk. In the past we have had 3 trailers by 3 different sponsors. This year we are adding a new station and after debating on what to call this stop, we decided we would be honored to call this stop the USS Indianapolis to honor all those involved. The trailer would be painted battleship grey and we would have painted on the side "in memory of the USS Indianapolis" or something of that nature. Everyone who enters the corn maze is given a map with these stations on it along with their names. We would love to have this opportunity to teach others about the USS Indianapolis's story. Maybe we could create a flyer with the USS Indianapolis's story on it for those who are interested. Please let us know if you support this idea or if you would like us not to do it. You can check out our website at Coolpatchpumpkins.com. Thank you so much for your time. Please feel free to call or email me.
Thanks again,
Matt Cooley

As the daughter of a survivor, and chairman of the Second Watch Organization, it sounds like a wonderful way to share the story and raise awareness. Each time the story is told, the memory of the men and their sacrifices are remembered and honored. And for that we are grateful!
