I am still searching for photos or family members of the nine crewmen KIA in the attack in Okinawa in 1945. If there is anyone out there with pictures from the 1940's of Marvin Douglas, Calvin Emery, John Garhart, Matthew Klucaric, Epifanio Lobato, or Byron Smiley, please let me know. I hope to have their pictures for the upcoming reunion next month.

I do not have any photos, but I do have the personal testimony/account of Robert (Bob) Gause, QM1, who was in charge of eight of the men killed in the attack. Though he never named the individuals, eight of those killed were part of Bob's NAN division. Bob was on his way down to meet up with his boys that morning, but was delayed for a few minutes up on the bridge. He shares the full account of the attack, in the ebook UNSINKABLE, (at Amazon.com Kindle Store), and tells the details surrounding his delay and how in those few short moments he lost eight great men from his division. The ordeal and the loss of lives made a huge impact in his life. It also stopped him in his tracks, to realize he had been spared for some reason, because he should have, and otherwise would have been right down there with them when the bomb blew. Bob always made it a point to share the story about the brave lives that were lost in the kamikaze attack when ever speaking to groups about his Indy experience.
I would be very interested in knowing the names of the eight men from Bob's division, if you are able to determine who they were.
