I'm the son of a WW II vet and have a deep appreciation for the Greatest Generation, but did not know the sad story of the USS Indianapolis. I read good portions of the site and appreciate the story, heroism of those who perished and were saved. I also appreciate the people who created and maintain this site.

Most kids today can't even name the basics of history. And despite a pretty good understanding of WW II, I never knew this story but it's not etched in my memory.
