Information regarding physical aspect of the Indianapolis

Hello!
My brother Tim and I are very interested in the story of the Indianapolis. Not only in the tragedy, but also the other missions the ship carried out.
Currently I have decided to build a 1/350 scale model of the ship for my brother for Christmas, and I am interested in making it as detailed as possible. The pictures on the box and the instructions tell me to paint the decking a shade of sea blue, which I found to be somewhat unusual. Is this accurate, or was it a paint scheme the ship took on later as part of its camouflage?

Looking forward to reading later discussions!
