Hello all,
I am attaching a couple of pictures of my great uncle, Howard E. Smalley, who died in the waters after the sinking of the Indianapolis. I am hoping that someone might recognize the other sailors so that they may also have the picture of their family member. My uncle is the gentleman with the big ears. I have heard stories that his friends called him "Radar". Feel free to email me at cjwedwin@gmail.com if you have any questions, comments, or info.
Beautiful pictures! Thanks so much for sharing those with us! I'd love to share them on the USS Indianapolis Second Watch Facebook page to see if anyone recognizes the other sailors, if you don't mind? Second Watch is the organization of the next generations of the final sailing crew. If you are on Facebook, please feel free to join the group!

Yes, of course! Please share with anyone who might be interested, and who might be able to identify the other sailor.
Thanks,
Cheri Woods-Edwin (great-niece to Howard Earl Smalley)
