I received the sad news of the passing of yet another USS Indianapolis Survivor:

Buck Gibson (USS Indianapolis Survivor) passed away at 10:50pm on Sunday evening.
The following are the service details:
Waco Memorial Funeral Home at 7537 South I-35 in Waco Texas:
   Visitation: Wednesday October 1, 6-8pm
Service and Burial:  Thursday October 2, 10am

May he rest in peace, and may his family and friends find comfort in their memories.

I'm so sorry to hear of the death  of Mr. Buck Gibson. My Uncle was on the USS Indianapolis and was Lost at Sea. Today I was on the website and saw a picture of Mr. Buck with the Pilot who delivered the bomb to Hiroshima. I noticed that Mr. Buck was a Gunner's Mate. My Uncle Mac was also a Gunner's Mate and I wanted to contact your Father and ask if he might have known my Uncle. I knew it was a long shot but now...! We never knew if my Uncle was killed when the bombs hit or later in the Sea, which I believe is a blessing. We would love to know if any of the Survivors knew him. My Mother, Uncle Mac's sister and 3 other sister's, out of 7 of his siblings, are still living and I am trying to keep the memories of the USS Indianapolis tragedy alive and the history of it.  My husband and I just returned from touring the Indiana War Museum and going to the USS Indianapolis Memorial. Sincere Sympathy to his family and friends!
