To the surviving and fallen crew of the Indianapolis
Permalink Closed

Having just read "In Harm's Way" for the second time now and being a Navy veteran myself, 1992-1997 serving aboard the USS Blue Ridge, I feel compelled to post here on this message board.

I did not know of the USS Indianapolis' full story while I was serving on active duty aboard the Blue Ridge, but of course knew of her fate in part by watching "Jaws" time and time again, as it remains one of my favorites by Spielberg. I cannot say for sure, but I suppose that during my time aboard we must have steamed near or through the Mariana Trench and near where she was torpedoed.

I want to extend my deepest appreciation for the bravery of all sailors that went down with the Indy that July night, living and deceased.

You are not forgotten.
