Looking to interview survivors
Permalink Closed

I am working on an article about the USS Indianapolis for the Fleet Reserve Association's (FRA's) membership magazine, FRA Today.  The Indy website is a WEALTH of information, but if there are any survivors who would be willing to speak with me, I would welcome their insights. I am particularly interested in highlighting the crew's efforts to clear Capt. McVay's name.

I can be reached at 800-372-1924 (ext. 126) or via email at Lauren@fra.org.  The interviews should only take 20 to 30 minutes, and I'll be sure all those who are interviewed will get extra copies of the magazine after the article appears in print.

Many thanks for your service and your consideration of this request.

Happy Holidays,
Lauren Armstrong

I have received emails and calls from several survivors and I can't thank you all enough...not only for your assistance with my article, but for your service and sacrifice.

Until I began researching this story, I knew very little about the Indianapolis.  It may sound trite, but I consider it a true honor and privilege to have spoken with several survivors. My article doesn't reveal any new insights or add anything new to the Indy story, but it is my hope that it will raise awareness among our readers and help keep the Indianapolis' great history alive.

When the article appears in the February issue of FRA Today (monthly membership magazine for the Fleet Reserve Association), it will be posted on our website (www.fra.org).  Once it's available, I'll make another post to let everyone know.  In the meantime, please know that I admire the tenacity and spirit of the Indy crew.

God bless you all!!
