Just an Interesting peice of information i wanted to share, The Building which houses the Swimming Pool to Qualify all the Navys new Sailors in Water Survival is Named after the USS Indianapolis.  It has a small display with a model of the Indy on it's Quarterdeck, along with Pictures and stories.  Ofcourse the recruits arent aloud to "sky-lark" in this area, heh.  When I saw it I did my best to look at it without getting caught.

Thank you for serving our country.  I recently wrote a book on a man in my home town of Wanaque, NJ who rescued many of the USS Indianapolis survivors.  His name is William Van Wilpe and he was a Gunner's Mate on the USS Bassett in 1945.  I heard that many serviceman order E-Books that are downloadable on their laptops.  My book in e-book format is only $5.00   Check it out.  I think you will enjoy it.  The website to order it is:

Mr. Van Wilpe is a real hero and I think you will find his story fascinating.  I actually helped him get his medal in 2005 - The US Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroism.    Keep up the good work sailor!   Tom Balunis
