U.S.S Indianapolis Painting
Permalink Closed

In 2007 i bought a painting of the U.S.S. Indianapolis hand painted by a survivor. It is the original. I bought it at the 2007 Indianapolis Expo i think is what it was called. I was wondering if the survivor that sold me it remembers me. Im steven gasaway. I think he would remember me as the kid who whowed up with alot of interest and knowledge in the U.S.S Indianapolis. He invited me to the reunion but i couldnt come as we had plans on that day and my dad had forgotten the day.

Would like to know if he still remembers........

I would think that what you are referencing is a painting done by an Indianapolis resident - John Gromosiak? He is not a survivor, but rather a friend of the survivors. He is very nice guy, and very knowledgeable about the story. He helps out alot with the reunions, so the survivors consider him an "honorary" survivor for his work that he has done for them. I believe he's a little younger than the survivors, but not by much. He has a military background as well, but not WW2. He does alot of military artwork. check the autograph on the picture and see if that is the name you see...
