Dear Ms Caldwell

My name is Catherine Lorraine Coleman and I'm the daughter of Margot Daniel Coleman. I'm not sure where the "Caroline" came from but my mother was very definite that my father was Cedric Foster Coleman.

My mother and her husband, Leno Ferrerini, moved back to California in 1968. Both of them passed away several years ago.

My husband and I moved to Northern California in 1980.

I would love to hear about my father's side of the family, as my mother rarely spoke about my father.

Mother says that Cedric Foster Coleman was one of four children, the youngest, with two older sisters and my father, Chalice Bruce. They lived in Bingham, Maine. We will send lots more later.

Dear, Catherine,

I was researching my family history when I stumbled on this message board.

My mother, Phyllis Coleman Mignery, was a sister of Cedric. Even though I was five at the time, I well remember the night she received news of Cedric's death. It was VJ day and people were celebrating with bonfires in the street in front of our house while my mother sat weeping in the dark. We were living in Massachusetts at the time amd my dad, an Air Corps chaplain, was still in Europe. My only direct memory of my uncle is of a very likeable man, looking sharp in his naval uniform. My mother always wondered what happened to Margot, as she moved away shortly after and did not keep in touch.

Your father had a bright future that was cut tragically short. He was born in Bingham Maine, graduated from Harvard with an engineering degree, and served on the staff of Admiral Spruance. We never stopped missing him.
