Dear Survivors and Families of Deceased,

I am ashamed to say that I did not know about the USS Indianapolis until recently, when I watched Jaws for the first time.  I simply want to express my deep gratitude for your service to the country and your unspeakably immense sacrifice, and my extreme horror at the apalling behavior of the government in this case.  Needless to say, I cannot even begin to imagine the horror you endured and the pain and suffering that you no doubt have experienced since the actual event.  I have made a point of telling all my friends about the USS Indianapolis if they don't already know about it.  You are in my prayers.
