I am fascinated, overwhelmed, and awestruck by the story of the Indy.  I would love to meet a survivor and or hear their stories firsthand.  Are there any survivors who give lectures and, if so, where? I just read In Harms Way and was sad, after an online search, to find that the Captain and Giles McCoy passed already.  Are there Indy reunions (i.e. my Dad served on the USS Cony DD 508 and we go EVERY year...a great time!)? Thanks!

There will be a reunion in 2012 in Indianpolis and I will post more information under the "Reunion" section of this board as soon as things are finalized. BUT - there is also a reunion of the Indianapolis Rescue & Recovery Association that will be meeting in Branson, Missouri the weekend of September 9-11, 2011. If you are interested in more information about that, feel free to email the IRRA Chairman, Roy McLendon at mclendon78@yahoo.com
Roy was a crew member of one of the rescue ships and does a spectacular job of planning a wonderful reunion. Several of the rescue crew members attend, as well as survivors and their families as well. If you are in the area and can make it, you won't be disappointed!
