Happy that this site exists.

My father served on the Indianapolis. I only saw him cry twice in my lifetime, when my grandmother passed away and when he told me the story about how McVay was treated and all the men who died.

I always had the feeling that my father thought that the people who were on that ship never got the credit, or respect that they had deserved. It would do his heart good to know that those mens memories are being honored.

This is a site that needs to exist. As long as the conviction of Captain McVay remains on the books justice will not be served. It is a stain on the honor of my sister service, the US Navy, which has served this nation honorably and faithfully since 1775. My signature says it all, this injustice exists so that some of the brass of that time can be covered for their egregous errors at the time of the sinking.
