I just read the book Abandon Ship!

I found the story of the Indianapolis to be very moving.  At the end of the book, there was a list of survivors and I seen the name Lyle Hind from Jasper Minnesota.

Jasper is a small town of about 700 people located near South Dakota and Iowa.  I was surprised that I had never heard of Lyle Hind's Story, because I grew up in Jasper.

I am very interested in knowing how Lyle is doing now and to find out more about the Jasper Minnesota that he knew as opposed to the one that I know.

If anyone has any information, I would appreciate it if you could pass it along.  This story has affected me very much and I would like to know more about it.

Thank you.

Respectfully,
Mike

Hello Mike,

Lyle Hind is my mother's brother. They both grew up in Jasper. He passed away several years ago from cancer while living in South Dakota. My mother is still living in a small town near Jasper. I visit every year, and Jasper is the same town as it always has been for the past 50 years. :>)

Tell me: What is the Lyle Hind Story you speak of in your post?

Thanks. Hope you get this.

Kym
