3rd viewing, cried again

I just watched the Discovery channel program about looking for the wreck of the 'USS Indy' again, (for the third time, seriously) and I cried AGAIN as I heard the descriptions of those days and nights awaiting rescue. I was compelled to seek out this site for the opportunity to thank the handful of survivors for their (your) service, and to let you know that 1st, I pray to take on some of your grief at those memories. I wish I could flood your hearts and minds with the love and gratitute our nation owes you, and lift from you the pain and horror at what you had to endure and witness, and 2nd I pray that Captain McVay's family know what an enormous apology they are owed, HE is owed, and that whatever happens to us when we pass, surely the pain of earthly existance is gone and just as surely he knew, the second his soul (or spirit or whichever word you are comfortable with) joined the mystery beyond this life, he was absolved and healed and set free. I am so sonot one to write gooey letters to total strangers, yet the story of the end of 'the Indy' has touched me, inexplicably, like very few events in our nation's history ever have. I hope I expressed my feelings in a way that both makes sense and reaches it's intended audience. I am writing this from the bottom of my heart.
