Knowledge of shipmate who flew off the Indianapolis as Aviation Mechanic
Permalink Closed

Does anyone remember my Dad? Horace Monroe Henninger, (nick name "Henny") Aviation Mechanic on the Indianapolis from it's maiden voyage until his discharge in or around 1936 to join the Metropolitan Police in Washington, D.C.  I have the book printed on the maiden voyage with it's listing of all hands.  My dad also was in parachute school in Anacostia Md Naval Station where he packed chutes and made many jumps testing them.  One from a Ford Tri-Motor with eight others who called themselves: "The Death Cheaters of the Air"  I have photos of the jump and prejump.  I'm writing a biography of him and would appreciate any information you have relative to the time he was on board the ship.  Thanks in advance.  Sincerely, Bob Henninger
