I am the nephew (by marriage) to Leonard Lambert who lost his life on Indie when she was sunk.  We have many pictures of him, all of which are of him on leave.  I am a Marine Corps veteran and was shocked to read that the Indie fought at Iwo Jima, was also hit by a kamikaze and served as Flagship for Admiral Spruance (spelling). Sadly, besides one "love" letter he wrote his wife, all his correspondence was destroyed in '60's along with her passing. I would be extremely grateful if there is any information available surrounding his death as we don't know if he died in the initial blasts or made it into the water and subsequently drowned or worse.

Lennie was a young man from Glens Falls, New York who met and married Rose Campanelli from Brooklyn, New York.

Any guidance or information would be greatly appreciated.

I posted a picture of Leonard Lambert but, after 70 years, I don't know if it is any value in searching for additional information.  I proudly display a framed picture of the Indie that was personally signed by Giles McCoy, Mike Kuryla and Jack Miner.

Thank you very much for any info that may be shared.

My email address is : marine104@comcast.net
