As often as I read about the INDIANAPOLIS tragedy, i continue to wonder how many ships were within 100 miles at the time of the sinking ? The USS BUCKINGHAM was 40 miles away- were there other ships out there, that for some reason did not answer / receive the stricken INDIANAPOLIS' distress calls ?
